ABOUT THE BODY RECOVERY CLINIC

Body Recovery Clinic is based in Wexford and run by Lorraine Whelan. Offering pain relief and well-being to ordinary individuals, amateur and recreation athletes and sports people who suffer new injuries or have pre-existing conditions.

I specialise in the treatment of chronic pain. This is typically is someone who is in some degree of discomfort with varying degrees on a regular basis in the same area or different areas of the body. This is usually something that has been going on over a long period of time and no resolution has been found. Often the person is so used to being in discomfort they have found a way to put up with it. Pain is normally somewhere between 3 and 10 on the pain scale depending on the level of activity or stress of the individual. Normally this person will have been to many therapists with varying degrees of success but never has the issue truly been resolved. Often when I meet these individuals, they believe that this is something they just have to put up with but this is not the case. I have been able to give back quality of life to many people and allowed people to resume hobbies they never dreamed they could partake in again. Normally once the person is pain free, due to the long-term duration of the pain, management rather than cure is effective in maintaining quality of life. This person would normally have regular treatment to ensure they stay well. The frequency of the treatments required depends on the individual themselves.

The treatment consists of non-invasive soft tissue manipulation of pain or injuries via the use of neuromuscular and associated therapies to address the ongoing task of preventing and limiting injuries in the future.

Body Recovery Clinic offers a professional service with appointments available to suit the lifestyle of the individual patient. As a registered member of the A.N.M.P.T. (Association of Neuromuscular and Physical Therapists Ireland) patients have the added benefit of being able to claim a portion of their fee from their health insurer, based on the plan of the individual.

Based in a quiet, holistic and rural location in Co. Wexford the clinic itself has a tranquil and peaceful setting. While you are awaiting your treatment, you can roll down your window and enjoy the beautiful sound of bird song, while taking in the vista of the surrounding trees and all the while preparing your body to relax and unwind. I am very passionate about my work and I love so much to give back to people the quality of life they have been missing. I am also a tutor on the National Certificate for Neuromuscular Therapy and Orthopaedic Massage. This is something I very much enjoy and it enables me to keep my knowledge fresh and keep my skills up to date.
